Truth & Reconciliation

What Are the Calls to Action?

In 2015, Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) released 94 Calls to Action — concrete steps meant to repair the harm caused by residential schools and address the lasting impacts of colonization on Indigenous Peoples.

These calls ask all of us - individuals, communities, organizations, and governments, to take responsibility in creating a more just, equitable, and respectful Canada.

At ElevateHER, we take these calls to heart. They guide how we design programs, build partnerships, and show up for community every day.

Our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

At ElevateHER, we believe that healing, empowerment, and equality begin with truth.
We are committed to walking alongside Indigenous communities as we learn, unlearn, and take action toward reconciliation.

Listening. Learning. Taking Action.

Reconciliation isn’t a box to check — it’s a journey we walk every day.
We start by listening. By learning from Indigenous voices, stories, and teachings.
And by recognizing the truth: that many of the systems we work within — education, community safety, and mental health — were built through colonial harm.

That truth fuels our responsibility to do better.

What We’re Doing.

🌾 Embedding Cultural Safety in Our Work
- Every ElevateHER program includes space for reflection, conversation, and awareness around Indigenous history, culture, and ongoing realities.

🤝 Collaborating with Indigenous Partners
- We work alongside Indigenous Elders, educators, and organizations to co-create programming that honors Indigenous knowledge and leadership.

💬 Building Awareness and Accountability
- Our team participates in continuous cultural awareness and anti-racism education — because reconciliation starts with self-work.

🌱 Amplifying Youth Voices
- We ensure Indigenous youth are represented, supported, and celebrated within our empowerment and leadership programs.

🏞️ Honoring the Land
- We recognize that wellness is deeply connected to the land. We’re expanding land-based healing and learning opportunities that ground our work in respect and relationship.

Walking the Path Together.

Reconciliation lives in the choices we make every day — how we show up, how we listen, and how we hold space.
At ElevateHER, we’re committed to this ongoing journey with humility, heart, and action.

Together, we walk the path toward truth, healing, and community.

Keeping up with community needs, and meeting you where you are at in the community and virtually!

We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of Mi’kmaq People.

This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.
